How to scan for virus online using a web browser

Almost all of us have installed an antivirus for protection in most of our devices and it is recommended to,but your antivirus can't detect all of the virus which are in the vast world. About 1 million virus are made each and every day. And you can't update your antivirus and then restart your machine every time you login.

Imagine that you download a software from a trusted site. And your antivirus shows that that file is infected with virus it must be a false positive.Want to know what must be your next step?

Just use online virus scanning services like Virustotal ,kaspersky,Virusdesk  etc
I have tested many online services but I found virustotal as the best because it is fast and it test your file with 67 engines and shows you the result.
Note: This most not be used as an alternative to an antivirus because only it can give you live protection.

To do an online virus scan for a particular file just follow this simple steps ⇩⇩




  • If u want to virus scan a particular file just click on the choose file button.
  • Now browse the location of the file to check I am using a .exe file to do this virus test



  • Within some seconds you will get your results be on the screen.
My tested file was detected as virus by 8/67 antivirus engines if u ask me personally it is a safer level because this 8 engines must be reported it as false positive. Well it is up to you


  • You must check its full result and if more than 50 engines detect it as clean with a green tick mark it is safer to use
By using this method you can test a particular before you download from an untrusted site
  • Just click on the URL option or the search option 
  • now enter the URL link and click the search button
I am taking my blog's URL as an example now we can see  the results.


As expected the URL which I tested is marked safe by all of the antivirus engines.

How to save whatsapp statuses without using other apps

On last year whatsapp has launched an update which enabled users to put videos,images and gifs. Everyone find it more useful than text only status which was in the older version of whatsapp.

Whatsapp only enabled users to view status updates but they can't save it. In India most of the people are updating their statuses with viral videos,trolls ,status videos instead of  putting personal matters as status. Which forced the users to save/download those status using apps for whatsapp like status saver,status downloader etc.

I don't know what the use of these apps if users can simply save it using their file manager. Fact is this apps are getting millions of downloads which means most of this people don't this trick.

Note: You must have a file manager installed from playstore as in built file managers prevent users from accessing files starting with (.) dots.

Steps to follow to do this trick-

  • Just open the whatsapp app and see some status 
      I'm going to save this status ↓↓↓




  • Now go to your file manager and browse this location Internal storage>WhatsApp>Media>.Statuses 
  • Please make sure that Show my hidden files option is active.Without this you won't be able to do the remaining steps. 

  •  Browse and find the file which you want to save.
  • Click the copy button

  • In-order to save it copy and paste it to another locations such as DCIM you can use your own custom locations 
  • That's all now that image is in my gallery and I can view it whenever I want.
Important note- If u want to save a status you must do this steps before it disappears from whatsapp status as u got only 24 hrs of time.

By following this steps you can simply save GIFs images and videos
  •  You must ensure that the video which u want to save was completely loaded on your phone.
  • Now open your file manager browse and find your file
  • Copy and paste it to a custom location and enjoy📱📱.
  • After coping this out of the .status folder it will be visible on your gallery

Google search using images- It is one of the latest features of google supported on Chrome 5+, Internet Explorer 9+, Safari 5+, Firefox 4. In my opinion google search using images is more useful than search by voice because I will give you an example if you see an bird and you want to know the name of the bird you can simply google it by taking a snap of the bird.

Want to know how to do it just follow this steps⇩⇩⇩

  • At first be sure that you are using an updated version of the above mentioned browsers.
  • Open a supported browser and then go to Google images
  • Now click on the camera icon.
  • Now you got two options- 1: Paste image URL and 2: Upload an image
You can even paste a URL and search for the similar images or the details of the image from a link 
  • But here we are gonna use Upload an image
  • Click on the choose file button.
  • Browse to the location and choose the image you want to get the search results. Now click the open button.
I am going to use an image which was taken by me in my last vacation which means I am not using an image downloaded from internet. It will take a moment for google to upload an image and search for it
  • Now we are going to see the search results

Google is showing that best guess for this image : qutub minar which is 100% accurate. This feature is still under development it may take years for google to show as more accurate results.

How to recover your deleted files using Photorec even after formating

Photorec is a free and open source data recovery tool designed for windows,mac,Linux,sunos etc. It was initially released on April 30 ,2002 .
It can not only recover images it can also recover videos, MP3s, zip files etc.
I tested it on windows and its work great. Photorec is one of the best app to recover files I ever used.

Working of this app- This app separates your drive into different partition and   scans for deleted files in each and every partition till it completes its recovery process. If you want to know more about how it works

  Important note-  You can recover your deleted files even after doing a number of formatting but can can't recover your files successfully  if it is overwritten by other files.

A big benefit of this app is you can use this app without installing it just unzip the file downloaded from here to use it .

 Now follow my instruction to start using this app.
  • After unzipping the downloaded  file 


The reason for marking two  files in this screenshot you will see it at the end of this page so read till end.
  •  Now search for qphotorec_win.exe and open it NOTE:(You Must Run It As An Administrator) 

  • After opening it at the top of the first bar click on the disk icon which I marked it on the screenshot and select the drive from which you want to recover files. I selected my pendrive which I am going to do this test. 
  • Now go to the bottom of the screen and click the browse button and select the location where you want to put the recovered file.
Now I am putting 1-MP3 file,1-JPG file and a video file into my pendrive and I am going to format it let's see how it works.
 After formatting it now Iam going to reopen our app. 
  • Your next step is click the search button after selecting the drive and browsing it  to a location. 
  • Your process will starts and give it some time.
As i said I selected my 4GB pendrive and you can select even your computer's own hard drive but the time taken to your recovery process is based on your selected driver's storage space.

Gotcha!!! within the first 10 sec i got my recently deleted files which i showed 
you in the above images ,reason for this speedy recovery was my file was not overwritten.
  • After reaching the progress bar at 100%  now click the quit button.
  • Now go to your destination folder which you browsed earlier.
  • That's all steps are required for the recovery process enjoy.
Lets see what all things that I have recovered from this process

   
I have completely recovered my recently deleted files successfully!!! Along with some my older MP3 files while some of it where readable and some were overwritten.

Now I'm going to tell you why marked two files instead of one in one of the above screenshots. The second marked file was photorec_win.exe which is an alternative version of the qphotorec.exe. You can use both version to do file recovery but this one has a command prompt screen instead of a user-interface.

Both applications have the same features but a difference I spotted while using both screens was this one shows the time remaining to do the recovery so if you want to know the estimated time use this one. Also you can show off to your friends that you are a  pro hacker if use this screen instead of a qphotorec app with a UI.
